Brad McColl aims to capture search for historic Georgia churches on film

Teaming up with authors George Hart and Sonny Seals, filmmaker Brad McColl has set out to create a film to capture the essence of their book “Historic Rural Churches in Georgia.”

The book itself documents photographs and history of rural churches in the state. And McColl is basing the show, which will appear April 14 on Georgia Public Broadcasting, on just that.

“What I actually do is direct and create the show now for television that’s based on their story of finding churches and telling the history and re-enacting the history,” McColl said.

But the Gainesville man hasn’t been in the film business all his life.

He actually started out as an illustrator for an advertising agency in Atlanta after graduating from the University of Georgia. But he didn’t stay there for long.
