Atlanta Actress Cassandra Hollis Lands Recurring Role in Upcoming Televisions Series, “ATL Homicide”

Rising Actress Cassandra Hollis portrays a character based on current Fulton County Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Jan Gorniak, on the upcoming television series, “ATL Homicide,” premiering on the TVOne network on July 9, 2018.

The new true crime series brings to life actual homicide cases that occurred in Atlanta during the 30-year careers of veteran Atlanta Police Department detectives, David Quinn and Vince Velazquez. Atlantans may recognize some of the high-profile cases that dominated local and national news.

An Atlanta native, Cassandra has appeared in lead and supporting roles in independent films, stage and commercials. Though she debuted as a performer at the tender age of three, her career in the entertainment industry began behind the camera as an independent filmmaker. She produced, directed and wrote 8 films, 7 of which were award-winning or nominated. Having starred in three of her films, Cassandra soon realized that her life-long passion for acting needed to take center stage.

In preparation for the part, Cassandra was able to gain a closer view of the critical role medical examiners play in solving homicide cases. “I was able to see firsthand that the medical examiner often fills in the missing pieces to the vast puzzle that investigators are putting together, “she said.  “It was great working with fellow cast and the entire crew with Mr. Quinn and Mr. Velazquez at the helm because these are cases they actually solved. And they are passionate about each one.”

Cassandra Hollis is the Program Coordinator for the Film and Digital Media Center at Clayton State University. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia and holds an MA in Communication, with a major in Television Production, from Georgia State University. This summer she has been accepted to the Yale University Conservatory for Acting, where she will train in Stanislavsky and the other Classics.

Cassandra will make her first appearance on “ATL Homicide” in Episode #2 and will appear on several episodes throughout the season. Check out more about this compelling new series at this link:
