South Georgia economy looking up, Film noted

A panel of economists presented the outlook recently to about 150 community business leaders at the 2019 Southeastern Credit Union Business Outlook Breakfast at the James H. Rainwater Conference Center.

Hosted by the Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce, the breakfast is an annual event for business owners to have an inside look at how the economy is expected to perform in the upcoming year, said Betty Morgan, vice president for business development with the chamber.

“In South Georgia, we will see a growth in the film industry,” Tori said. “The state of Georgia has targeted the film industry as one of their growing and inspiring industries to focus on, and South Georgia will not be left out of that growth.”

Retail sales, accommodation services, food services and office and administrative jobs are the occupations with the most openings.

“That doesn’t mean there isn’t growth in other areas, this just means this is where most of the growth will be in our area,” she said.
