Acting Showcase by 2019 Graduates of LAMDA

Graduating professional actors from the prestigious drama school, LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) will perform in Atlanta this autumn, demonstrating their skills to industry professionals.  The student led initiative will take place on Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 October at the 7 Stages Theatre, Atlanta, Georgia.

Acting showcases are performed yearly across the United States, traditionally in Los Angeles and New York so fresh graduates may potentially sign with agents, managers, and establish new working relationships with casting directors.  These first steps into the field may hopefully set a strong trajectory for their burgeoning careers. The graduating students have chosen to showcase in Georgia since it’s grown to become the number one producer of films in the United States and has maintained that position since 2017. The State’s “right-to-work” laws also grant graduates to work on union projects without being forced to join the union immediately unlike other major markets in America. This allows fresh professionals building a resume to wait until the strategically optimum time to join the actor’s union SAG-AFTRA. The performance will consist of two-person, three-minute long scenes by the group of 30 graduates. Official opening night will take place on Tuesday 22 October, followed by a drink reception.

LAMDA student Tristan Goldman, who graduates from the MA Classical Acting course this year said: “With my fellow graduating students, we wanted to extend our sights and bring our work before the Atlanta arts community with a student-led showcase. The work happening in the city will define future generations of actors. Even given the current climate, the state’s an undeniable hub of the industry that should be recognized. We look forward to meeting the industry there and the potential professional relationships that may yield.”

The performance will take place at 7 Stages Theatre 1105 Euclid Ave NE, Atlanta, GA  30307 on Tuesday, 22 October 2019 at 7pm and Wednesday 23rd October at 1pm & 7pm.
