In response to requests from both our professional and academic attendees, SIEGE is delighted to announce its first Game Research Conference (SIEGE2019R). The SIEGE Game Research Conference focuses on presenting research impacting the game industry. It happens in conjunction with SIEGE, and researchers are invited to attend those sessions as well. Academics, professionals and students are welcome to submit presentations.

This inaugural event will be hosted by Kennesaw State University at the KSU Center in Atlanta on Oct. 14, 2019. All researcher conference participants are also welcome to attend the main SIEGE conference on Oct. 13-15. Regular SIEGE attendees are also welcome to attend the research conference.

Aims and Scope

This call focuses upon research that can be applied to solve specific problems in game design, development, production, and in the industry as a whole. This one-day conference addresses gathering and disseminating data pertaining to applied game research.  Researchers are welcome to submit:

  1. Original and unpublished research as full-length scientific papers (up to 8 pages);
  2. Late-breaking research (poster presentations); and
  3. Game industry analysis (synopsis up to 4 pages).

Each paper submission will undergo a double-blind review process conducted by esteemed professionals, researchers, and academics. Late-Breaking Research (Poster) submissions will undergo a single-blind review process. Accepted authors grant the Georgia Game Developers Association permission to publish papers and posters in the conference proceedings. Papers and poster submissions are to be submitted through the SIEGE Research Conference website at https://ggda.org/research-submission/ . Papers must be submitted in full; posters require a 200-word synopsis.
