Florida, which was wracked by hurricane winds and rain Sunday, has had virtually no film and TV productions shooting there since the state ended its film tax incentives program in June 2016.
The Hawai‘i Film Office says productions receive a 20 percent tax credit on O‘ahu, and a 25 percent tax credit on Kaua‘i, Maui, Moloka‘i and Hawai‘i Island, provided they spend between $200,000 and $15 million and attempt to hire locally. They must also support education for the local production industry.
Last week, Pinewood Atlanta Studios hosted British Ambassador to the US, Sir Kim Darroch, during his visit to the city of Atlanta.
The first two seasons were shot in Louisiana. This is the first time Georgia has ever nabbed a TV series from Louisiana. North Carolina, after it severely capped its tax credits, lost “Sleepy Hollow” in 2015, which aired for two more seasons here before being cancelled.

“When the six-second ads are placed in unique positions, it has the potential to gain even more attention than a traditional unit,” Eric Shanks, president of Fox Sports.

“So many of my friends that I met through Dragon Con are working in the film industry here in Atlanta because when it started to grow, they were looking for people who could make costumes and do makeup, so Dragon Con was a great breeding ground for that.”
As the film industry and landscape changes in Georgia, students are realizing they don’t have to move to New York or Los Angeles to be successful in film. “Now we have Georgia natives who are realizing they can stay at home and do what they love.”
